Dreamer

Dreamer was taken from a Kansas puppy mill in a USDA seizure. The first 7 years of her existence were spent in a mill producing litter after litter for the trade.

She was transported to a shelter and due to a clerical error was scheduled to be euthanized on the same day her rescue was effected. From the moment we collected her at the airport she showed us her enthusiasm to live. Her will to survive inspired me and kept her going thru her diagnosis of mammary gland adenocarcinoma, glaucoma and later chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Dreamer graced our lives for 7 years. During that time she was never entirely free of flashbacks to her horrific early existence, but time and her diminished hearing made previously frightening sounds first bearable and then non-issues. Thru it all she trusted me completely, lived her life to the fullest and showed me that life is a precious gift worth fighting for. Dreamer´s sunny disposition and her steady gaze at me are forever imprinted on my soul.
